Adam Berke,  a manager  of research administration in Campus Shared Services for the past five years, has been named the new Regional Director of the Biological Sciences Region, serving the College of Natural Resources, the Biological Science Division, the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences, and the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute, along with other related research units, museums, and field stations.

Chancellor Carol Christ told a group of UC Berkeley staff members on Friday that the school needs to do a better job of making them feel part of a community on campus.

Speaking to members of the Berkeley Staff Assembly during its annual “Chancellor’s Chat” forum, Christ laid out her plans to raise revenue, address a continued budget deficit, improve morale and better connect with the school’s 10,000 staff members.

Joining us from UC Santa Barbara, where he served as vice chancellor for administrative services, Marc will play a pivotal role in our efforts to improve campus operations so that Berkeley can meet its budgetary goals and remain the nation’s preeminent public research university. He will begin his work here on Sept. 18.
