Dear campus community,
As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, UC Berkeley is participating in a coordinated, multi-agency effort to limit access to certain roads in the Berkeley Hills. These temporary closures are intended to support public safety and reduce wildfire risk during this high-fire season.
From 5 a.m. on Friday, July 4 through 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, the following roads will be closed to non-essential traffic:
After years of planning and coordination, UC Berkeley has officially broken ground on a new parking structure designed to better support the daily needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Developed in partnership with Clark Pacific, the structure will provide more than 600 parking spaces—including 66 equipped for electric vehicle (EV) charging—and will play a key role in maintaining campus access while supporting the forthcoming Clean Energy Campus Utility Improvement Project.

Drake, who has led the 10-campus University of California system since August 2020, discussed an array of major topics regarding UC Berkeley and higher education, including the role of public education in California, diversity, global issues, budget concerns and his approach to leadership.

New campus hub fosters a dynamic culture of collaboration, inclusivity and innovation
Students, faculty, staff, key benefactors and the legendary Oski the Bear came together Monday for a festive celebration of the opening of the Grimes Engineering Center, a new hub on the north side of campus. UC Berkeley Engineering marked this exciting milestone — just two years after the building’s groundbreaking — with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Chancellor Rich Lyons.
