Professor Maximilian Auffhammer has accepted an appointment as the Regional Associate Dean for the CSS Regional Service Center serving the Divisions of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Undergraduate Studies, and affiliated Organized Research Units. Professor Auffhammer is the George Pardee Jr. Professor of International Sustainable Development and a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the International and Area Studies Program.
Professor Auffhammer has an outstanding record of service to the University, including serving as Director of the International and Area Studies Teaching Programs, and most recently as Associate Dean in the Division of Social Sciences. His outstanding administrative service experience and commitment to the University make him ideally suited to for this new role.
The Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities Region is one of six integrated service centers, or "regions", being established to improve the delivery of services including research administration, human resources, travel reimbursement, and other administrative functions. Dr. Auffhammer is working with campus and unit leadership to develop staffing and service delivery plans, and a search for a Regional Director to lead the administrative staff in this region is underway.
