Berkeley Regional Services

Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) consists of five (5) integrated service teams providing clusters of schools, colleges, and organized research units with research administration, human resources, business, travel reimbursement, and other aspects of administrative support.

ERSO, the regional services team serving (at that time) the College of Engineering, the School of Environmental Design, and the School of Information, has been in operation for several years and is considered the first regional service team. Additional regions (see graphic below) began operations in 2019 with a focus on physical sciences; biological sciences; social sciences, arts & humanities; professional schools; and administrative units. The structure continues to evolve.

Academic regions have a Regional Associate Dean directing operations and representing the interests of the principal investigators, faculty, and staff in the region. A dedicated Executive Director and/or Regional Director manages the day-to-day operations of each region and direct the service professionals. The Regional Associate Deans and Executive/Regional Directors from all regions meet regularly to identify issues and propose solutions for improving service delivery across campus.
