John Arvin leads Capital Strategies, which provides a full suite of planning, design, real estate, construction, and development services to the UC Berkeley campus community. The department includes real estate professionals, architects, planners, engineers, construction managers, and administrative specialists, working together to serve the campus community.
John was appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for Capital Strategies in February 2019. He brings more than two decades of experience in real estate development and infrastructure planning, having managed large-scale, complex projects across California. Before joining UC Berkeley, he served as Vice President of Community Development at Woodridge Capital Partners, where he led entitlement and development efforts for major master-planned communities. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Pardee Homes, overseeing infrastructure operations for developments that collectively permitted over 30,000 residential housing units and managed more than $3 billion in design and infrastructure.
