2023 VCA Annual Report - Business Process Management Office

The Business Process Management Office (BPMO) provides Portfolio, Program, and Project Management, Process Management, Process Improvement, Change Management, Strategic Planning and data intelligence services to campus departments to ensure alignment and accountability of their strategic projects. The Office provides a comprehensive look at change and improvement efforts happening in the division and across campus. Their FY22 Operating Results & FY23 Budget can be found here.

FY22 Accomplishments

Throughout FY22, BPMO developed tools and processes and drove process excellence for 23 divisions/units across campus. Those units included (but not limited to), Chancellor’s Office, UC Office of the President, UC Police Department, Disability and Compliance (DAC), University Health Services (UHS), Berkeley Regional Services (BRS), University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR), Vice Chancellor Administration Facilities, University Extension, and Berkeley Public Health. 

A prominent offering in their catalog includes discovering, standardizing, and documenting business processes using Promapp. In total, the Office has supported the development of ~1300 Promapp processes as of December 31, 2022 and in FY22, supported the development of 196 new processes. Since inception, their Promapp processes have had over 54K views and last year, with over 10K views in FY22. 

The top five groups documenting new processes in FY22 included; University Extension, BRS, Berkeley Public Health, Capital Strategies and Business Process Management Office (BPMO), totaling 135.

A major focus during this period was on Campus Safety including the Chancellor’s Reimagining Campus and Community Safety program, the UC Community Safety Plan implementation, the Chancellor’s Independent Advisory Board (IAB) on police accountability and community safety and the design of Campus Mobile Crisis Response program
