The ChaMPS Region served the College of Chemistry, the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, the Space Sciences Lab, and other affiliated research units and centers.
The ChaMPS Region was under the direction of Philip B. Stark, Professor of Statistics and Interim Regional Associate Dean, and SHARE Regional Director, Teal Sexton, led regional operations as Interim ChaMPS Regional Director.
In FY21, ChaMPS HR implemented many improvements which included automated processes to develop and send welcome emails to new Berkeley employees for departments served by ChaMPS as well as automated processes for Summer Salary for Faculty and Summer Session Hiring efforts. The team also implemented the regular use of Mass PayPath Actions in UCPath, speeding up their transactional work by at least 60%.
The ChaMPS team(s) established various workgroups throughout the year to finetune the region’s vision and values and code of ethics, strategic planning, education and information, workload balancing and wellness, and conducted an overall organizational re-fresh. They also worked to improve HR/RA/Department communications to enhance service delivery to their departments. As a support partner, ChaMPS actively participated in testing Berkeley’s new People Cards and Smartsheet data integrations, plus a partnership with the ERSO Region improved requests for delegated approval access for Graduate Student Multilocation Appointments (MLAs).
ChaMPS Research Administration also participated in the Phoebe Sub-Award Request Pilot.
In January, 2022, it was announced that the ChaMPS Region was being realigned and the service for the departments/units they supported, as well as the ChaMPS staff who provided that service, were moving to the ERSO and SHARE Region(s).
