Last week’s Staff Appreciation Week was a huge success, with record attendance at all of the major events! Our thanks to: the over 200 volunteers who helped with the activities throughout the week; the Residential and Student Service Programs for offering free coffee and discounts on meals for staff; and The Recreational Sports Facility for offering free use of their facilities. More than 4,100 people – about half our staff – attended the annual Summerfest staff picnic, hosted by the Chancellor, and over 1,600 people attended other events, ranging from Claude Steele’s lecture on his research on stereotype threats that kicked off the week, to the NOW staff development conference, to the campus tour led by student ambassadors, and the UC Walks that wrapped up the week.
In addition to the staff in attendance, the Chancellor and members of his Executive Leadership Team participated in various ways including, helping at the Summerfest t-shirt table and sharing their own career experiences at the NOW conference.
This was truly a community building week that demonstrated our collective appreciation of the Berkeley staff.
Here are a few videos from the conference and some ideas on how you can keep the positive energy flowing throughout the year:
