Campus Announcement: Administration and Finance Interim Plans

February 17, 2016

Chancellor Dirks and EVCP Steele sent the following announcement to the campus community on February 11.

Dear Campus Community:

We are following up on the January 12th announcement regarding Vice Chancellor John Wilton’s decision to step down from his position in the administration and finance division.  As with any leadership transition, it is important to take time to assess the portfolio and the needs of the campus before launching a search.  While we conduct this analysis, we have asked Vice Chancellor Scott Biddy to take on management responsibilities for much of the administration and finance portfolio on an interim basis starting March 1st.

Scott’s deep understanding of campus administration, his finance background, and his close working relationship with us make him the right choice during this interim period.  He will continue to advance the work of the Board of Visitors, which is closely tied to the campus’ strategies and well-aligned with the highest priorities of the administration and finance organization.  Scott will work closely with John and his senior leadership team to ensure a smooth transition.

Once we have defined the leadership needed for the administration and finance functions, we will engage in an open search to find the appropriate high-caliber leadership for this crucial position. We will continue to keep you updated and do our best to provide clarity as this work progresses.

Please join us in thanking Scott for taking on this assignment in addition to his other duties during this time of transition.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Dirks
Chancellor

Claude Steele
